Pantheo Eye Centre was founded in 2003 by a small group of eye
specialists and ophthalmic paramedical staff. Their objective was to create a single specialty centre, dealing with ophthalmic disorders, comparable to any in Europe. Over a period of five years the number of eye specialists has grown to twelve.

Each specialist has his or her own special field.
In addition there are two orthoptists two optometrists and a number
of specialists nurses. Together they ensure that patient care is a team
approach that maximises quality and ensures patient safety and comfort.

Pantheo Eye Centre is the first eye centre in Cyprus to offer what you find in other eye centres in Europe or North America, the existence of sub-specialists and the assurance that patients are referred to the appropriate doctor in the group, best qualified and trained to deal with their particular problem. If necessary a group of doctors will examine the patient each using his or her experience to provide the best possible treatment available. Subspecialisation already exists in Pantheo, for glaucoma, retinal diseases, corneal diseases and transplantation, paediatrics and strabismus, oculo-plastic surgery and laser refractive surgery for myopia.

Pantheo maintains a very high standard of teaching for all its doctors. The number of doctors available makes it possible to take turns to visit international conferences and keep up to date of new developments and ideas. Pantheo doctors have themselves been involved in teaching others and exhibiting their techniques. In 2002 a group of Pantheo doctors were invited to teach in a large hospital in Istanbul. Lectures were given and
operations were performed which were transmitted to a local conference centre to an audience of 600 eye specialists.

In 2005 Pantheo was one of six European clinics selected by the European Vitreo Retinal Society (EVRS) to transmit via satellite link, from its operating theatre directly to Cannes in France an operating echnique for retinal detachment repair. The procedure was watch by over 1,000 doctors from all over the orld attending the meeting in France.

Last year the Midland Ophthalmological Society in the UK elected to organise its annual meeting together with Pantheo. The conference was attended by doctors from all over Europe and both Pantheo doctors and their guests gave lectures and presentations.
